The Japanese term Karoshi, meaning "death by overwork," highlights the stark realities of a relentless and often dehumanizing world, where the pursuit of success comes at the cost of health and well-being. This phenomenon is evident in Japan, where exhausted workers can be seen lifeless, weary, and intoxicated on the streets after grueling hours of labor. This collection delves into themes of exhaustion, burnout, and the gradual erosion of identity under the weight of societal expectations.

Each garment tells the story of these workers, embodying their profound strength and vulnerability in equal measure. The collection draws inspiration from my mother, who experienced the realities of Karoshi and the demanding life of a salaryman in Japan. It pays homage to the invisible resilience and unspoken strength that women like her demonstrate every day. I am fascinated by the human condition and the subtle, yet profound, ways our daily interactions shape the world around us.
